NOTD, Faux-nad MLS301 Look #10 of the Contest/Giveaway!

So today I have something sweet and feathery for you. Or diabetic, literally for the birds and metaphorically for the cynics, depending on how you look at it.

Love-birds with sweet-tooths and a pair of sweethearts on my ring finger!

q1 mls301 nail plate

Polishes used:

Kleancolor “Pastel Teal”, Kleancolor “Pastel Pink”, China Glaze “Leather Black”, Revlon “Valentine”, Seche Vite topcoat

I seem to be stuck using my drugstore polishes lately. Money has been tight so it’s put me in an thriftful mindset!

I first used three coats of “pastel teal” on my index, middle and pinkie. On my ring I used two coats of “pastel pink”, followed by painting a heart with the same teal. Since Kleancolor polishes dry a little slow for my liking (I’m all about speed!) I then topped it off these bases with a coat of Seche Vite fast dry topcoat. After drying, “Leather Black” was used along with the the MLS 301 plate to stamp swallows in various opposing positions. I then took “Valentine” and stamped them carrying little wrapped candies.

Initially I took great care in placing red polish in the center of the candy stamp, with white on the wrapper portion, to make them look more realistic and a bit more detailed. This worked easily and would probably look awesome against a dark color, however the white wrapper portion barely showed up against the teal. So I had to do it all over! But it’s a good idea for another time…

Hold the phone.
What’s that chicken doing here? Peeping on birds and trying to steal their candy?!

That’s no chicken. That’s a rooster, and his name is “techno-chicken”. He’s a ring I picked up from one of my absolute favorite ring shops and will be included in the next *scheduled* monthly giveaway!!

Stay tuned!

I’m totally loving your use of the drugstore polishes. It makes all the looks seem that much more achievable to me. This came out lovely. Also, I’m digging techno-chicken’s cameo.

Super adorable birds eating candy!! I love birds. You’re really good with the stamps.

Okay, this is just TOO PERFECT. You see, I am writing this comment whilst sitting on a balcony overlooking the Caribbean Sea. I am on vacation with my family to celebrate my 5th wedding anniversary at the very place we got married – Cozumel, MX. TECHNICALLY, our anniversary isn’t until tomorrow, but this is still impeccable timing. (I’m totally diggin’ that ring, btw. I have several rooster figurines strewn about my home.)

The lovebirds theme is very sweet! And I shall refrain from making a dirty joke about the “rooster” ring ;) I love the whole look, just as I do with all your posts!

  • Angie says:

I love birds and I love this look! I have to try this out.

  • Tara says:

Those love birds are adorable, that would make a great accent nail.

  • Tammy says:

I love the highlight nail, just perfect.
