Sinful Colors Magnetic Polish in “Polar Opposites”

SinfulColors Magnet Lacquer

Did you know Sinful Colors came out with a magnetic line immediately following Wet N Wild’s magnetic line??

Neither did I until I stumbled across the display at Target a few weeks back. The majority of the colors looked intensely sparkly, all feature star magnet shapes and, while more expensive than other lacquers in the Sinful Colors line at $4.99/pop, they are cheaper than brands such as CG and Sally Hansen whose magnetic lines retail for $9 and up.

So naturally I was instantly drawn to them. Pulled to this line like something that draws things together… typically various types of metal with specific properties… some sort of attraction…is there a word for that? THEY PULLED ME IN LIKE A TOW-TRUCK. Yeah, that’s what I was looking for.

There were a few testers out so with Mr. NB’s help I tested away with high hopes. (You’ll actually get to see the magnificent results of my work and his fingers in this post)

“Polar Opposites” was the only one I walked away with and after the jump you’ll see why…

Mer-maid for Each other comparison to Unpredictable Bohemian Collection

Nicole by OPI “Mer-Maid For Each Other” VS China Glaze “Unpredictable”

I have been anxiously awaiting the new China Glaze Bohemian Collection but it was KD who initially brought this comparison to my attention. While waiting to see the Bohemian Collection pop up locally, I saw a few swatches posted on other blogs. When the possible dupe was brought to my attention I compared what I was seeing in these swatches to what I was seeing in person and I was sure that, while super close, the Nicole was a little richer with a better duochrome.

A set finally turned up at Sallys (which after my recent trips I’ve decided I really need to head there first above other beauty stores. They always have what I’m looking for, are always on time and the girls always know exactly what I’m talking about! Sigh, Sally love.) and I grabbed a bottle of the China Glaze last night for today’s comparison.

NAIL BATTLE!

Nicole by OPI has just released a new collection exclusive to Targets nationwide. It is a limited edition display, titled “Back To Cool”, and offers a few re-runs and a few (not so)hidden gorgeous new gems.

I picked up two polishes from this collection: a pink/blue-infused gold (“For Gold Times Sake” seen HERE, link will open in new window) and the one seen in this post – “Mer-Maid For Each Other”.

The gold caught my eye because of how unusual it seemed and this one because I instantly thought we had yet another Chanel “Peridot”/Jessica “Iridescent Eye”/OPI “Just Spotted The Lizard” on our hands. Particularly that last one as it would be interesting to see if OPI simply repackaged the Lizard. I said it.

Them’s fightin’ words!

While the rest of the display was brand newly stocked, this was the very last “Mer-maid” at my local Target…. Drama! Suspense! Intrigue! The best nail battle yet? …no, probably not. But the results are both unexpected and imperative to those looking to either buy/pass over this new display..

Nicole by OPI “For Gold Times Sake” Swatches & Review

For Gold Times Sake Nicole by OPI

You may find a new display at your local target featuring a lot of interesting duo-chrome, fleck, shimmer and glitter. These bottles may look like ugly little sinful boots, but this time it’s worth it to bite the bullet, take a gulp, savor the grimace and check out (what I believe are) limited edition Target exclusives.

Supposedly set to official release in August, myself and a few other lucky lacquer lovers have been seeing these displays pop up early. There are 10 shades, two of which I picked up.

Shades are:

“I Love You Cherry Much”, “Iris My Case”, “Look at Me, Look at Me”, “You’re S-teal the One”, “Nicole’s Nickel”, “Just Busta Mauve”, “Pink-nic in the Park”, “Great Minds Pink Alike”, “Mer-Maid for Each Other”, “For Gold Times Sake”

Here is a stock photo that features the two I picked up (sorry, couldn’t get the whole collection this time, guys!)

I picked up “Mer-Maid for Each Other”, what looks to be a Chanel “Peridot”/OPI “Lizard” dupe (BUT ISN’T! You can see the swatches and comparison for this polish HERE), and “For Gold Times Sake”, one that really caught my interest.
