A rainbow of various brands as base, China Glaze ”Leather Black” to stamp the rainbow image on the MLS301 plate, Followed by Layer upon Layer of Orly “shine on crazy diamond” to create ‘puffy’ glitter clouds, a Single star shaped confetti and then finished with one coat Seche Vite Topcoat
This is look #2/12 in the Plate/Stamper Giveaway Contest! All you have to do is comment for a chance to win! Rules and details can be seen here: http://nailblog.net/notd-faux-naud-mls301-look-1-and-contestgiveaway/
I recently picked up five new Kleancolor nail polishes (found HERE) and have swatches, review and breakdown of them for you today.
With holographic nail polish being so very in (add “forever” after that and etch it on my heart), I thought many people may be looking at Kleancolor’s holos and wondering how they stack up.
Firstly, try to get any linear images out of your head right now. These aren’t linear, they don’t look like Lisa Frank stickers or foil trading cards nor do they shoot rainbows. and it would do them a disservice if they were compared to such! What they are, however, is a collection of gorgeous, sparkly, scattering of holo dust -and lots of it- suspended in sheer color.
They are, true to company form, named very appropriately:
134 Holo Pink, 135 Holo Blue, 136 Holo Green, 137 Holo Yellow, 138 Holo Orange
(Mr. NB is behind me giving two giant thumbs up)

I recently compiled a dozen pictures of different looks I’ve created using my most recent nail plate ( post HERE ). This is look #1/12. I was initially going to post them all together as a collage but then had the thought of turning it into a mini-contest!
WIN THE MLS301 NAIL PLATE (& STAMPER IF YOU DON’T HAVE ONE!)
Over the next 3 weeks, I’ll be posting 12 looks using the MLS301 faux-nad (replica of the famous KonadUK Q1). All you have to do is leave a comment! No need to subscribe, email, follow, none of that foof.
Ok on to the fun stuff.
1. Only one comment per person per post will be counted. (IE. Leave one comment on each of the 12 “MLS301 Look Post” and receive 12 entries. Comment 50 times, as I know you want to, on each of the 12 “MLS301 Look Post”s and receive… still 12 entries.)
2. If you comment more than once, you WON’T be disqualified. In fact the only thing I can think of that may disqualify you is if you turn rude and/or nasty, especially to other commenters.
3. This contest is open internationally!
4. Contest will end 5/18. Winner will be chosen via my 2nd favorite old school method (my 1st favorite are those giant bingo cages) which will be the entries written on paper and then chosen out of a hat. Winner will be notified and announced 5/19.
5. If you don’t have a stamper, have no fear! Let me know, and I will even throw one in so you can enjoy and take part in this contest too
And you know I’ll also be throwing in some cookies and other good stuff in the box Winner will be notified via email and announced in post.
This will be the first of many monthly contests, so stay tuned or subscribe! (that is, as soon as I fix the html. I’ve received numerous emails regarding an error occurring on the site’s RSS feed, Facebook, Facebook like and subscribe options. I’m working on fixing them right now!)
I know, I know. I just gave away all my goods like a cheap date right out of the gate with that post title, huh?
I have always intended for this site to focus primarily on swatches and nail polish. No fluff, no filler, no clogs or other items that you guys don’t want to come to a NAILBLOG(.net) site and sift through. However when I come across really exciting news, and this is exciting, I can’t be held back. I have been debating posting these news items for about three weeks now and I finally decided to break.
(Feel free to leave in the comments if you would like me to refrain from “news” in the future or not hold back on you!)
You all know my Layla love affair. Well…*angels singing*… Layla. Hologram. Effects. ARE RELEASING 8 NEW COLORS!
So there is an updated chart of all the new polishes’ glory. I’m not sure how accurate these colors are considering what they show for Jade ( see swatches HERE ) but I’m drooling over “Coffee Love”, “Misty Blush”, “Cloudy Violet”, and “Gold Idol” (Dear Holy Nail Polish God, please let this be a glorious as I envision. I’ll totally let you borrow my rare Chanels, with no questions asked, if you do).
I haven’t found much information on their release date, but I will be sure to keep you updated with dates, purchasing venues and swatches.
Second order of news:
Flakie love. Revlon. Drugstore. Flakie Love. Say what?
Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy
This double ended tub features a cream lacquer on one side and delicious iridescent flake on the other. There will be ten varieties (so far the ones you see above, however they have been known to make last minute changes). Names released are: “Universe, Galactic, Milky Way, Satellite, Supernova, Cosmic, Orbit and Moon Dust”. I don’t believe all of the decisions are final as the picture you see here includes a mock-up label amongst other proposed ideas. Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy will retail $8.95 each and is projected to release this August.
I have to comment that I don’t really like the direction Revlon is going with their prices. The newly released Colorstay polishes in the revamped cylinder bottles retail for $7.99 at my Walgreens (although I purchase them at Walmart for $5.99). That is the same ballpark as OPI, China Glaze and a bunch of other tried, true and higher end brands. Now these will be almost $10 including tax? Sigh. I wish I could boycott but I can’t. I am honestly going to try to purchase every single one, and maybe even some backups.
Exciting, isn’t it?
Jamie’s sharp eye saw the similarities between Illamasqua “Lament” and Sally Hansen XtremeWear “Coral Reef”
I do believe we may have found one of the most perfect dupes…
Last year Konad released a special edition stamping plate #Q1. It was limited edition and designed by the blog/blogger “The Charming Nails”! It was produced by KonadUK; in other words, found only in the UK.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t until about two months after the release did I become aware of it. By that point, the venues I had scoured were sold out and the scalpers on Ebay had gone mad. $25+ for one plate?
(Although I read on the company KonadUK website the plate sells for around the same price even there)
I begrudging put it onto my watchlist for later. It was almost time for me to crack and purchase it when I stumbled upon… the knock-off!
Yes, a company from China (where else) just created a knock-off of the Q1!
Now, all the stamping plates I own are Konad. I have happily paid the extra money to ensure I get the best quality and to support the original company. However, I don’t think you can hold it TOO against me that this time I purchased my very first knock-off plate. A faux-nad, if you will. $3.99 VS $25? If you say you wouldn’t make the same decision, I can smell your pants on fire.
I haven’t been able to play with it too much, but I did want to spread the news for anyone looking. I found mine on Ebay, I have not seen this one on Amazon (yet).
In THIS post (link will open in new window) I swatched and reviewed Layla Hologram Effect Holographic Nail Polish in “Jade Groove”.
I did more than hint at a future comparison post and..
here she is!
I think I’ll start it off with a picture sure to tantalize:
